A brief comment (March 30, 2018):
In reality, the above represents a misleading and incomplete information.
India has very little oil of its own. Thus India has to import a lot of oil / petrol to meet its huge demand for gasoline, because India is a huge country with massive population (unlike other countries mentioned above). Moreover, India does not get a preferred rate and rebate on its imported gasoline which some other countries might receive under special considerations, such as paying for petrol import in hard currency, sharing the state-wise religious similarity (brotherhood) with the oil producing / supplying country, etc.
Anyway, the real petrol prices per litre in U.S. dollars (1 US $ = 65 Indian Rupees) in India and a number of other countries on 26 March, 2018 in the following, as per https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/gasoline_prices/
Afghanistan ($0.61), Burma ($0.62), Pakistan ($0.76), Sri Lanka ($0.82), Nepal ($0.99), Bangladesh ($1.07), Canada ($1.11), China ($1.14), India ($1.17), Cuba ($1.25), Brazil ($1.26), Japan ($1.31), South Korea ($1.46), Turkey ($1.50), New Zealand ($1.55), Germany ($1.68), U.K. ($1.68), Israel ($1.82), France ($1.82), Italy ($1.90), Greece ($1.91), Norway ($2.02), Hong Kong ($2.06).
