You cannot take law in your hands: Maneka Gandhi on Hyderabad rape encounter case
Member of Parliament Maneka Gandhi on the recent encounter of Telangana rape accused said that whatever happened is not good for the nation. “You cannot kill people because you want to. You cannot take law in your hands, they (accused) would have been hanged by Court anyhow,” she added. (6 Dec. 2019)

>>> Not good for police to quickly eliminate (kill) the persons accused of rape and murder who happen to be under police custody but did not yet go through a fair and impartial trial to establish their guilt or innocence.
Because, such a quick action / killing of the accused (under custody) by police, in real or fake encounters, can not only get the innocent (falsely accused) persons killed, but also have the real culprits (rapists and murderers) still walking free as unaccused, untried and unpunished while even planning their next crime (rape / murder). Hardly anything in this to restore public confidence against rape.

"New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2019) said it intended to order a probe by a former apex court judge into the alleged encounter killing of the four suspects in the gang-rape and murder of a veterinarian in Hyderabad."

Thanks for the link.
It seems the above case is now further complicated and beyond the consideration of rape shield law because of the police action in which all four male suspects, accused of gang-raping and murdering a woman, suddenly died during an encounter with police while already in police custody.
